Simple Simon is described as "A Mother Goose Extravaganza" by R.A. Barnet with music by A. B. Sloane and G. L. Tracy. It was first performed on 8 February 1897 at the Tremont Theatre, Boston, by members of the First Corps of Cadets.

- No. 1 - Opening Chorus of Fairies - "Gleaming from yonder dark tower o'er crumbling and ivy-clad walls, down in a silvery shower fair Luna's bright radiance falls..."
