No. 11 - Song - Moonshine - "What a very pretty picture."

MIDI File

Moonshine: I very often wonder if there'll come a time
When content is overflowing from my cup,
When the sun will shine in London in the summer time,
When Piccadilly Circus isn't up.
If somebody would drown my mother's cockatoo,
If men their wicked habits would forsake,
If they would stay at home and darn a sock or two,
What a very pretty picture that would make!
And if girls could only fly
Like the birdies in the sky,
And the sugar from your lips they'd come and take,
When they reached the pecking stage
You could shove them in a cage,
What a very pretty picture that would make!

Suppose you have a craze for notoriety,
By simply using "Tatcho" for the hair,
The illustrated papers of society,
Will picture you in filmy underwear.
To captivate the clergy and the laity,
You cultivate the walk that takes the cake,
In the front row of the chorus at the Gaiety,
What a very charming picture that would make!
Miss Vinolia Vere de Vere
Has her picture in the Sphere,
In a motor with a silver mounted brake,
And she really looks the part,
But suppose the car should start,
What a very charming picture she would make!
