No. 20 - Song - Boniface and Chorus - "Vive la Bohême."

MIDI File

Boniface: Do you know the jolly student band
Who come in joyous train?
Chorus: Vive la Bohême,
with its troubles and its joys!
Boniface: They are all the lads o' Latin land,
Bohemia by the Seine!
Chorus: Vive la Bohême!
and its merry girls and boys!
Boniface: Do you know the little girls that trip
Along the Paris street?
With the laughter trembling on their lip,
And music in their feet!
Chorus: Oh, have you met a fair grisette yet? yet?
Boniface: Oh! oh! oh! We raise the good old song,
Life is very short when merry,
Art is hard and long!
Oh! oh! oh! What though our time is shorter,
While we may we'll all be gay,
The lads of the Latin Quarter!
Chorus: Oh! oh! oh! We raise the good old song,
Life is very short when merry,
Art is hard and long!
Oh! oh! oh! What though our time is shorter,
While we may we'll all be gay,
The lads of the Latin Quarter!

Boniface: Do you know the boys who spatter paint
With palette knife and brush?
Chorus: Vive la Bohême,
with the canvas and the frame?
Boniface: They can turn a Venus to a saint,
By painting in a "blush!"
Chorus: Vive la Bohême!
and they're very much the same!
Boniface: Do you know the pretty girls that sit
For artists to design;
They are model maids, I'm sure of it,
And altogether fine!
Chorus: Oh, do you know how models go? oh! oh!
Boniface: Oh! oh! oh! We raise the good old song,
Life is very short when merry,
Art is hard and long!
Oh! oh! oh! What though our time is shorter,
While we may we'll all be gay,
The lads of the Latin Quarter!
Chorus: Oh! oh! oh! We raise the good old song,
Life is very short when merry,
Art is hard and long!
Oh! oh! oh! What though our time is shorter,
While we may we'll all be gay,
The lads of the Latin Quarter!
