No. 10 - Song - Alice and Chorus - "The Merry Medieval Maid."

MIDI File

Alice: Now a gallant knight lov'd a maiden fair
In a medieval fashion.
He was daring, dashing and debonair,
And she quite return'd his passion.
There was only one little drawback which
For a while their lives affected,
As her handsome lover was far from rich,
Well the maid's papa objected.
Chorus: As her handsome lover was far from rich,
Well the maid's papa objected.
Alice: His temper he soon displayed
When he found he was disobeyed.
"Though my father disagrees,
I will marry whom I please,"
Cried that merry medieval maid.
Contraltos: "Though my father disagrees...
Chorus: "Though my father disagrees,
I will marry whom I please,"
Cried that merry medieval maid.

Alice: Then her parent's face wore a look of gloom,
And he took that wilful daughter,
And he shut her up in a top back room,
To be fed on bread and water.
But her gallant lover was ever true
And to him her faith was pinned, oh,
So one night she climb'd down a rope he threw
To her second story window.
Chorus: So one night she climb'd down a rope he threw
To her second story window.
Alice: Now that was an escapade
Which would make many girls afraid;
But such acrobatic feats
were delightful little treats
To a merry medieval maid.
Contraltos: But such acrobatic feats...
Chorus: But such acrobatic feats
Were delightful little treats
To a merry medieval maid.
Alice: To a merry medieval maid.
Chorus: To a merry...
Alice: To a merry medieval maid.
