No. 1 - Opening Chorus and Solo

MIDI File

Chorus: Oh, lucky the bride who happens to wed
When roses white and roses red
Are ev'rywhere unfolding;
For now is the pride and sweet o' the year,
While joyous pageant, far and near,
All nature has been holding.
Men: In meadow and lane and leafy dell
The spring has done its duty.
Ladies: So merrily May has bid farewell
And Mistress June has come to dwell
All: In rare and radiant beauty,
In rare and radiant beauty,
In rare and radiant beauty.
[Girl:] High in the sky a lark is singing,
Over the clover hum the bees,
Soft up aloft, sweet fragrance bringing,
Whispers a wand'ring breeze.
Chorus: All of the world seems well in tune
Under the spell of leafy June.
Girl: Gay on its way the streamlet passes,
Glancing and dancing all along,
Near by the mere, the waving grasses
Sway to its lilting song.
Chorus: Love's in the air, and life's a boon
Now in the month of joyous June.
Oh, brides there are who'll tarry
And foolishly delay
To fix their wedding day
Till winter's on its way.
'Twere better far to marry
While summer sends its posies,
And spend in June a honeymoon
Of love among the roses.
Oh, lucky the bride who happens to wed
When roses white and roses red
Are ev'rywhere unfolding;
For now is the pride and sweet o' the year,
While joyous pageant, far and near,
All nature has been holding,
All nature has been holding.
For now is the pride and sweet o' the year,
While joyous pageant, far and near,
All nature has been holding.
