Pyke: Now how shall we try to stop this lad?
The country's wild and the roads are bad,
I wish we had all got wings, don't you?
Lady Punchestown: We never could fly, so that won't do!
Mrs. Bang: Or how would it be if you and I
In a small balloon were to sail the sky?
I'm sure you have gas enough for two,
Hooker: They're very unsafe, so that won't do!
Lady Punchestown: Oh, isn't there any sort of bus
Or a cab that we can call?
Pyke: We're not in the four mile radius,
So that won't do at all!
All: But whether we've hansoms or whether we've none,
And whether we cycle or whether we run,
We fully intend to arrive in the end;
So in some way or other it's got to be done.
But whether we've hansoms or whether we've none,
And whether we cycle or whether we run,
We fully intend to arrive in the end;
So in some way or other it's got to be done.

Lady Punchestown: By telephone one might now arrange
To ring him up on the chief Exchange,
If only they'd try and get us through,
Pyke: He's not on the list, so that won't do!
Hooker: Experiments have been made, I see,
With a wireless kind of telegraphy,
Of course the invention's rather new,
Lady Punchestown: Marconi's not here, so that won't do!
Pyke: A carrier pigeon could be tried,
The expense is very small,
Mrs. Bang: The carrier might get pigeon pied,
So that won't do at all!
All: But whether we've wires or whether we've none,
And whether we fly there or whether we run,
We fully intend to arrive in the end;
So in some way or other it's got to be done.
But whether we've wires or whether we've none,
And whether we fly there or whether we run,
We fully intend to arrive in the end;
So in some way or other it's got to be done.
