No. 26 - Song - Mrs. Bang and Chorus

MIDI File

Mrs. Bang: Although I'm British born
I do not look with scorn
On foreigners as such;
Whenever I've a chance
To take a trip to France,
I like it very much!
It's only just a step
By Calais and Dieppe;
You start and there you are,
You dine and take the air
And perhaps a petit verre,
All along the Boulevard!
Voici! Voila! Oh, my! Je suis très chic!
Les Messieurs say to me
I am La belle Anglaise.
C'est bon! très bon!
They are extrêmement thick!
Voulez vous kissy Ma'moiselle Missy?
Oh, go on!
Chorus: Voici! Voila! Oh, my! Je suis très chic!
Les Messieurs say to me
I am La belle Anglaise.
C'est bon! très bon!
They are extrêmement thick!
Voulez vous kissy Ma'moiselle Missy?
Oh, go on!

Mrs. Bang: I mean to buy the stocks
Of Paris hats and frocks
And make my husband pay.
I'll get an evening gown
That looks just coming down
It's so decolletée!
I'll be a dream of joy
In purple poult de soie
With orange chiffon frills
When I go out to dance,
As the fashion is in France,
At the Moulin Rouge quadrilles!
Voici! Voila! That is du dernier chic!
The ladies who perform
Must get extrêmement warm.
C'est beau, they go
With un grand coup de kick,
Toeing and heeling
Tout près du ceiling,
Oh, climb down!

Chorus: Voici! Voila! That is du dernier chic!
The ladies who perform
Must get extrêmement warm.
C'est beau, they go
With un grand coup de kick,
Toeing and heeling
Tout près du ceiling,
Oh, climb down!

Mrs. Bang: But since New York, they tell,
Has taken back her Belle,
Perhaps it would be wise
If I should go some day
To show the U. S. A.
The Belle of Brixton Rise!
My baggage I'd express
And take the cars, I guess,
Upon the depôt track.
And though I'm married, yet,
A Divorce is cheap, you bet!
And I guess I shan't come back!
I want to know,
Do tell, and is that so?
I'll go up town for sure,
Ice cream and chewing gum.
Gee-hosh! Gee-whiz!
I want just all there is--
Caramel candy, Blackberry brandy,
Oh, go on!
Chorus: I want to know,
Do tell, and is that so?
I'll go up town for sure,
Ice cream and chewing gum.
Gee-hosh! Gee-whiz!
I want just all there is--
Caramel candy, Blackberry brandy,
Oh, go on!

Mrs. Bang: I've had no chance to see
The land of Italy,
Except just passing through;
But if I stayed at Rome
I should be quite at home,
And do as Romans do!
An Ice-cream-barrow man
Taught me Italian
Until I got it pat.
So, when Italian men
Will come round me, now and then,
Why I know just what they're at.
Funicula, I'm la bellissima!
The young Signori say: e'impossibile!
They're gone, quite gone!
They call out "Eccola!"
Un-poco forte, Ah, che la morte!
Oh, go on!
Chorus: Funicula, I'm la bellissima!
The young Signori say: e'impossibile!
They're gone, quite gone!
They call out "Eccola!"
Un-poco forte, Ah, che la morte!
Oh, go on!
