No. 16 - Chorus - Old Companions
Lyrics by George Grossmith, Junr.

MIDI File

Boys: At the close of night
When the sun shone bright,
Then we ceased to be hilarious,
And we went to snooze
In our evening shoes
And some other garments various,
Then we all slept sound,
Tho' the room turn'd round,
And we dream'd of frills and frockery,
Till they brought our tea
Which you'll all agree
Is a luke-warm snare and mockery!
The early morn's a thing we bar,
But when it's noon, then here we are!
We all arrive, we're all alive,
You'll find there's nothing wrong with us,
And so you needn't make a fuss,
For we're all right
When we've had a pleasant night,
And if we think we'd like a drink,
The daring deed will soon be done;
The Old companions know the spot
Where it can be got,
And we all get thirsty when the clock strikes one!
We all arrive, we're all alive,
You'll find there's nothing wrong with us,
And so you needn't make a fuss,
For we're all right
When we've had a pleasant night,
And if we think we'd like a drink,
The daring deed will soon be done;
The Old companions know the spot
Where it can be got,
And we all get thirsty when the clock strikes one!

Girls: At the hour of ten
We awoke and then
We put on our morning frippery,
And we peep'd outside
Where we soon descried
That the roads weren't wet or slippery.
This supplied the cue
For a brand new shoe
Of a size that if once you're in it you're
Very soon convinced
By the way you've winced
That your foot isn't always a miniature!
But if the question now be put,
We've got a rather dainty foot,
We've come along, don't say it's wrong,
We've come to captivate the boys,
And ev'ry one of us employs
Her subtle charms
When we take them by the arms,
And ev'ry day some pleasant way
We find to make the money run;
Our little darlings know the spot
Where it can be got,
And we all get friendly when the clock strikes one!
We've come along, don't say it's wrong,
We've come to captivate the boys,
And ev'ry one of us employs
Her subtle charms
When we take them by the arms,
And ev'ry day some pleasant way
We find to make the money run;
Our little darlings know the spot
Where it can be got,
And we all get friendly when the clock strikes one!
