FOLLOW UP TO THE CHIEFTAIN
[The Sawston production of THE CHIEFTAIN was issued by Michael Thomas on Rare Recorded Editions. The record prompted the following]
I have bought, the new RRE recording of THE CHIEFTAIN but the qualilty of the performance is with a few honourable exceptions, so low that one gets little real idea of the work. Is it, in fact, a good piece? I seemed to dimly discern marks of distinction in the score as performed on the record but quite frankly, I could not make half of it out. RICHARD MOORE
