St. Theresa

(6.5., 12 lines)

Composed for "Church Hymns with Tunes", S.P.C.K., 1874.

1 Brightly gleams our banner   2 Jesu, Lord and Master,
    Pointing to the sky,       At Thy sacred feet,
  Waving wanderers onward     Here with hearts rejoicing
    To their home on high.       See Thy children meet;
  Journeying o'er the desert,     Often we have left Thee,
    Gladly thus we pray.       Often gone astray;
  And with hearts united     Keep us, mighty Saviour,
    Take our heavenward way.       In the narrow way.

Brightly gleams our banner
  Pointing to the sky,
Waving wanderers onward
  To their home on high.

Brightly gleams our banner
  Pointing to the sky,
Waving wanderers onward
  To their home on high.

3 All our days direct us
  4 Then with saints and angels
    In the way we go,
      May we join above,
  Lead us on victorious
    Offering prayers and praises
    Over every foe:
      At Thy throne of love;
  Bid Thine angels shield us
    When the toil is over,
    When the storm-clouds lower,
      Then comes rest and peace,
  Pardon, Lord, and save us
    Jesus in His beauty,
    In the last dread hour.       Songs that never cease.

Brightly gleams our banner
  Pointing to the sky,
Waving wanderers onward
  To their home on high.

Brightly gleams our banner
  Pointing to the sky,
Waving wanderers onward
  To their home on high. Amen.
