SCENE I

The Miller's Cottage. Exterior. CYMON is discovered playing on a fiddle.

SERENADE

MIDI Symbol

Cymon
Cymon
Cymon sings (sentimentally)
  Janetta awake, your lover hear.
  Janetta awake, Janetta dear;
  Janetta awake, your lover hear.
  Janetta dear;
  Janetta, netta, netta, dear.

(To himself, gaily.)
  I'm rather afraid
That a serenade
Will wake the old Miller who lives within.
  But why shouldn't I
A serenade try,
When I've learnt to play,
And I had to pay
For learning to play on the violin

During the Symphony, JANETTA enters from house, locks door on outside, and comes to CYMON. They embrace rapturously.
