Thomas Bannerman (1919-24, 1940-41)

[Born Kilwinning, Ayrshire Scotland 22 Nov 1887, died Edinburgh 15 Oct 1973]

After several years as a popular concert singer in Scotland, Thomas Bannerman served as a chorister with the D’Oyly Carte “New” Opera Company from its inception in September 1919 until October 1924. He returned to the D'Oyly Carte chorus from December 1940 until August 1941 as a war-time replacement. In between his D'Oyly Carte tours, he returned to his native Scotland and occasionally returned to the concert stage.
