THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Evelyn Bond

Evelyn Bond (1900-02)

Evelyn Bond appeared on tour with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "E" as "Song-of-Nightingale" in the first Provincial production of The Rose of Persia from February 1900 until April 1901, when she transferred to the Savoy as a member of the chorus for the first London production of The Emerald Isle. It appears she remained at the Savoy as chorister and understudy in The Emerald Isle and Merrie England through July 1902. When the Merrie England Company went on tour in August Miss Bond took the small part of Kate.

She soon left the D'Oyly Carte, returning to London as Venetia Grafton in Rubens, Talbot and Greenbank's musical play Three Little Maids at the Prince of Wales's. She went on to play Evelyn Somers in The School Girl (Prince of Wales's, May 1903 to April 1904) and Mme. d'Albert in The Little Michus (Daly's, April 1905 to May 1906).
