THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Keith Bonnington (1963-65)

[Died 19 Feb 2013]

Keith Bonnington was a member of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus from July 1963 until June 1965. His only named part for the D'Oyly Carte was the Associate, a non-singing part in Trial by Jury, which he played from September to December 1963, and again for the 1964-65 season.

He appeared with Sadler's Wells Opera in 1969 in the chorus of Patience, and 1970 as Benoit, the landlord, in their production of La Boheme.

Keith Bonnington was for a time married to fellow D'Oyly Carte artist Margaret Eales. In later years he was in the English National Opera chorus for ENO Gilbert & Sullivan productions of The Mikado (1986-87, 1989-90, and 1996-97) and Princess Ida (1992-93). While with ENO he married another former D'Oyly Carter, soprano Anne Egglestone.
