THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Percy Edmunds (1892-93)

[Born Edinburgh c.1860]

Percy Waldron Edmunds appeared for a time as John Manners in Haddon Hall with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "B" beginning in November 1892. He reportedly remained with the Company in 1893, but it seems that other tenors played Manners that year and no roles are credited to Edmunds. He was married to D'Oyly Carte soprano Blanche Courtney.

A P. Edmunds appeared at the Opera Comique in June 1890 as a Brigand in Ernest Ford's comic opera Joan. Later that year, Percy Edmunds visited South America as a chorister with Edwin Cleary's English Comic Opera Company, appearing in Gilbert & Sullivan and other works in Buenas Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay.
