Edith Evans (1905)

Edith Evans filled in briefly as Phyllis in Iolanthe with the D'Oyly Carte Principal Repertory Company in Bristol in November 1905.It was her only part with the Company.

Between 1908 and 1910 she took several leading roles in grand opera at Covent Garden, including Rowena in a 1910 revival Arthur Sullivan's Ivanhoe, and also appeared in comic opera at His Majesty's.In 1914 she returned to grand opera at Drury Lane and, later that year, the Old Vic.She also performed in grand opera at the Shaftesbury in 1915-16, the Aldwych in 1916, and the Shaftesbury again in 1917.

She was not the same Edith Evans as the famous British character actress of the same name.
