Mary Hargreaves (1925-27)

[Born Nelson, Lancashire 1907, died France summer 2000]

Mary Hargreaves was a contralto chorister with the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company during its last two season of existence:July 1925-June 1927. After the "New" Company was disbanded she traveled to South Africa where she performed for several years.

She was back in England in 1934, appearing that year in the chorus of Hammerstein & Kern's musical Three Sisters at Drury Lane. During the 1940s she appeared in several shows under the name of Mary Norton.
