Cecilie Hope (1916-17)

Contralto Cecilie Hope toured with the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company from February 1916 to June 1917. She appeared regularly as Vittoria in The Gondoliers and Mrs. Partlett in The Sorcerer, and filled in on occasion for Bertha Lewis as Lady Blanche in Princess Ida.

Miss Hope later traveled to South Africa with a non-D'Oyly Carte "Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company" in a repertoire of seven Gilbert & Sullivan operas as chorister and small part player. They opened in Johannesburg in June 1920. Her roles on the tour included Fleta in Iolanthe.
