THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Norma Millar (1965-67)

[Born Belfast 8 Sep 1942, died Lincoln 7 Jan 2007]

After training at the Royal Academy of Music, London, Norma Millar was a "mezzo-contralto" chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from July 1965 to March 1967. She may be seen the Company's 1966 film version of The Mikado. After leaving the D'Oyly Carte to raise her two children, Miss Millar became a theatrical landlady and teacher of singing. She later returned to opera with Opera North and then with Welsh National Opera. She was in the chorus for WNO's 1995 production of The Yeomen of the Guard.
