THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Pauline Montegriffo (1882-83)

Pauline Montegriffo first appeared in the New York area in the winter of 1881-82 as a concert singer in support of Adelina Patti.

She was then engaged to play Iolanthe with D'Oyly Carte's Second American Iolanthe Company at the Lyceum Theatre, Philadelphia, for six weeks beginning December 5, 1882. It was her only appearance with a D'Oyly Carte Company.

Miss Montegriffo would later appear in New York in Zozo, the Magic Queen (Windsor, September 1887), and in various concert venues there in the autumn of 1889.
