THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Marguerite Mostyn

Marguerite Mostyn (a.m.d., 1919)

Marguerite Mostyn was assistant musical director for the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company for at least a portion of the 1918-19 season, filling in briefly for Walter Hann as musical director in the spring of 1919.

Miss Mostyn later traveled to South Africa as one of two joint musical directors with a "Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company" in a repertoire of seven Gilbert & Sullivan operas, by permission of Rupert D'Oyly Carte. The Company featured several ex-D'Oyly Carte artists and opened in Johannesburg in June 1920.
