Margaret O'Brien (1926-28, 1929-35)

Margaret O'Brien was known as Peggy Whyte when she appeared as the Lady Ella in Patience (shared for a time with Marjorie Eyre) and in the chorus with the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company from October 1926 to June 1927, the last eight months of the "New" Company's existence. Miss O'Brien then transferred to the remaining D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, serving as a chorister from August 1927 to June 1928, and again from May 1929 to June 1935. During her last four seasons with the Company she appeared as Fleta in Iolanthe, Ada in Princess Ida, Vittoria (1931-32) and Giulia (1932-35) in The Gondoliers. She also filled in on occasion as Peep-Bo in The Mikado and Casilda in The Gondoliers in 1931-32, and as Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, Mad Margaret in Ruddigore, and Tessa in The Gondoliers in 1932-33.
