THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Celia Sidna (1898-1903)

Celia Sidna was a chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy from at least November 1897 (the new production of The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein) through April 1901 (the first London revival of Patience). During this period her one named part was Isabel in the 1900 revival of The Pirates of Penzance, a role she played briefly in September of that year. She later appeared on tour with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" (also known as the "Savoy Touring Company") as Nora in The Emerald Isle, September 1901-May 1902.

Miss Sidna returned to the main Company at the Savoy for at least a portion of Merrie England (April 1902-January 1903), serving as a dancer in that production for a time.
