THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

W. H. Sinclair (1887-89)

W. H. Sinclair was one of Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd's ghostly ancestors in Ruddigore on tour in the British provinces with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "B" Company from April until June 1888, when the Company was disbanded. He also filled in briefly for Tom Redmond as Sir Roderick Murgatroyd in February 1888.

After "B" Company closed, Sinclair transferred to Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "E" Company where, in November 1888, he assumed the small part of Second Citizen when The Yeomen of the Guard became "E" Company's sole production. Company "E" toured Yeomen until February 1890, but Second Citizen disappeared from the cast list in 1889 and it's unclear when Mr. Sinclair left the D'Oyly Carte organization.
