Greene Taylor (1888-91)

Tenor Joseph Greene Taylor appeared on tour with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "C" as Leonard Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard in November and December 1888 and, on occasion, in 1889. At the time, his name was given in the programs as Joseph G. Taylor.

Later, as Greene Taylor, he toured with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "E", appearing as Marco in The Gondoliers in April 1890, filling in for a time for Frank Tebbutt, the regular Marco.

Greene Taylor later appeared in London as Sergeant O'Flynn in the musical extravaganza King Kodak (Terry's Theatre, 1894). He was married to D'Oyly Carte soprano Grace Pyne from 1890 to 1905.
