Covent Garden Promenade Concert Programme
Description: | Programme for a Promenade Concert. Appearances by Dyna Beumer, Antoinette Sterling who sang Sullivan's ballad Thou Art Weary, Barton McGuckin, Michael Maybrick ('Stephen Adams'), Anna Yesipova (styled 'Essipoff') and Howard Reynolds. Due to the excessive length of the concert, three items were cut from the second-half: the Selection from Gounod's Faust, the duet from Benedict's The Lily of Killarney and d'Albert's Fanfare polka. The omission of the first item was noticed by "The Times" (2nd September 1879), but all three have been clearly marked by the original programme-owner. |
