Young Men: | We've come for you ladies, No pretty bridesmaid is Allowed to be absent by stealth, |
Bridesmaids: | By stealth, |
Young Men: | The bridegroom's beginning, With eloquence winning, A speech in proposing your health. |
Bridesmaids: | Our health. |
All: | They're/We're all of them/us drinking our health. |
Bridesmaids: | Then let him begin it, We'll come in a minute, We're busy, we cannot say why! |
Young Men: | Say why! |
Norah: | Don't trouble to dress me, You'll only distress me, You must hear the Best Man reply. |
Men: | Reply. |
All: | Yes, he has the right to reply. For it would be unfit Both for all and for each If we lost the bright wit Of the orator's speech, And there's nobody can Miss the eloquence fond When the very best man Has to rise and respond, And there's nobody can Miss the eloquence fond When the very best man Has to rise and respond! Ha ha ha ha ha! To rise and respond! |
