No. 15 - Quartet - "Beware of the Bomb!"
Anita: | If you see a little bag Lying out upon a flag |
Pepita: | In the street — Be discreet, never steal it! |
Frank: | If you meet a lobster tin In a dust-collecting bin — |
Reginald: | That has got rather hot When you feel it — |
Frank: | If you spot a cigarette Someone happened to forget — |
Reginald: | Then beware, Leave it there, never smoke it! |
Anita: | And a Barcelona nut That is roasting in a rut, |
Pepita: | On the road May explode if you poke it! |
All: | It's a bomb, it's a bomb! It's a bomb, it's a bomb! Then beware of the bomb! Don't bother what is in it, But go, for you know What will happen in a minute! There's a hiss like this, And a splutter in the gutter, And a quick sharp click, And a whop of a pop And a bang — Oh, hang! And you're all in little bits, Which convinces you that it's A bomb! It's a bomb! |
Frank: | If a missionary box Makes a ticking like a clock's, |
Pepita: | Better go, Do not throw in a penny! |
Anita: | If you find a soup tureen Smell of nitro-glycerine, |
Reginald: | Mind your eye, Do not try taking any! |
Pepita: | If a cheese that very Dutch Weighs a trifle over-much — |
Anita: | You may bite Dynamite, get exploded. |
Frank: | And a Saratoga trunk Ought to put you in a funk, |
Reginald: | For suppose One of those should be loaded! |
All: | It's a bomb, it's a bomb! It's a bomb, it's a bomb! Oh, beware of the bomb! Or sooner than you reckoned You'll fly to the sky At a thousand miles a second! There's a hiss like this, And a splutter in the gutter, And a quick sharp click, And a flash and a crash And a bang — Oh, hang! When you're miles above the ground You'll be sorry that you found That bomb! It's a bomb! |
