Stuart Alexander (1906)
[Born Aberdeen 1872, died Blackpool 23 Oct 1911]
In anticipation of the First Repertory Season at the Savoy, Stuart Duncan Alexander was given a tryout as Colonel Fairfax in The Yeomen of the Guard on tour in November 1906. According to press reports, Alexander had "won a splendid reception in the provinces" but, sadly, was stricken with a paralyzing illness, and could not appear at the Savoy. His place was taken by Pacie Ripple.
Alexander apparently recovered from his illness but never again appeared with the DOyly Carte organization. His only role in London was Stefan in The Merry Peasant at the Waldorf (October-December 1909).
