Clara Allen (1881-82)

A Charity Girl with D’Oyly Carte’s Second American  Billee Taylor Company in 1881,  Clara Allen was a member of the chorus for D’Oyly Carte’s New York productions of Claude Duval and Les Manteaux Noirs the following year.

Between 1885 and 1890 she had numerous appearances in comic operas on the New York Stage. In March and April of 1890 she was a contadine in The Gondoliers with Francis Wilson’s Company in a production at the Broad Street Theatre in Philadelphia sanctioned by D’Oyly Carte. Her last role in New York was Nelly in Harry B. Smith and Reginald DeKoven's Rob Roy (Herald Square, September 1895).
