Alma Bernard (1882)

The name Alma Bernard appears in the programmes as Kate in The Pirates of Penzance with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's No. 1 "Pirates" Company on tour in the British Isles from April 10 through December 16, 1882. Miss Bernard also appeared as Mrs. Bowcher in the curtain-raiser Mock Turtles, which played with Pirates in the early part of the tour.

It has been suggested that Alma Bernard may well be Annie Bernard by another name. This seems likely as both sang contralto roles, and Annie's activities in 1882 are otherwise unaccounted for.
