George Bishop (1920-21)
George Bishop toured Great Britain with the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company from August 1920 to February 1921 as principal tenor in place of Arthur Lucas who had left the Company. Bishop's roles were the Duke of Dunstable in Patience, Lord Tolloller in Iolanthe, Prince Hilarion in Princess Ida, Leonard Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard, and Luiz in The Gondoliers. He himself left the D'Oyly Carte in February 1921 and was in turn replaced by Leo Darnton.
George Bishop had an extensive career on the London Stage that extended from 1914 to 1945. He also appeared in New York as Lord Amersham in the musical comedy The Girl From Utah (Knickerbocker, August-December 1914).
