THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Lois Butler (1882-83)
Lois Butler toured with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's No. 1 "Patience" Company in 1882, taking over the part of the Lady Angela from Laura Walsh in October and playing it until the end of the tour on December 16. A new company, Mr. D'Oyly Carte's No. 1 "Iolanthe" Company, was formed the next year and began touring the new opera on February 26, 1883, with Miss Butler as Leila. She appeared a Leila until April, when she was succeeded by Kate Forster.
