THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Frank Cane (1907)

[Born Peckham Rye 1 Feb 1864, died Bracklesham Bay 6 Apr 1940]

Frank William Cane made his London Stage debut as an extra in a legitimate play, The White Heather, at Drury Lane from September-December 1897. When The White Heather was revived at Drury Lane in May-June 1898 he took the part of Jack Sadler. He later appeared, again at Drury Lane, in Marsac of Gascony (April-May 1900) and The Great Millionaire (September-December 1901).

Cane's only known engagement with the D'Oyly Carte organization came in January 1907 when he appeared on tour with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "C" as Major Murgatroyd in Patience.

His only subsequent appearance in a London Stage program was as Downham in a revival of The Earl and the Girl (Aldwych, November-December 1912).
