THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Frank Gloyns (1894-96, 1898-1903)
[Born Crediton c.1866]
Baritone Frank Gloyns was a chorister with D'Oyly Carte companies between November 1894 and May 1903. It's unclear whether his service was continuous. He may have had a small role in The Vicar of Bray with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" (beginning in November 1894), serving with that Company in 1895 and 1896. He reappeared with Company "D" from December 1898 to September 1899, taking the role of Nicodemus Knock-knee in Haddon Hall (July-September 1899). He may have joined the main Company at the Savoy as a chorister for the first production of The Rose of Persia (November 1899-June 1900), then by August 1900 was touring with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D."
At some point Gloyns transferred to D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "E," serving as a chorister from July 1901 until at least November 1903. While with Company "E," he filled in briefly as Pish-Tush in The Mikado and Second Citizen in The Yeomen of the Guard.
