THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Agnes Goode (1894-97)
[Born Enstone, Oxfordshire 6 Dec 1863, died London 24 Apr 1941]
Agnes Caroline Goode was a touring chorister with D'Oyly Carte's American Utopia Limited Company, appearing in New York and Boston in the spring of 1894. She was with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "C," where she took her first named parts, from September 1895 to November 1896. She appeared as First Bridesmaid in Trial by Jury (September-December 1895) and later as Celia in Iolanthe and Sacharissa in Princess Ida (both May-July 1896). She also deputized on at least one occasion (March 1896) as Aline in The Sorcerer.
Miss Goode then served in the chorus for D'Oyly Carte's first South African tour, December 1896-June 1897, taking the small part of Melene in Utopia Limited and (on occasion) Kate in The Yeomen of the Guard.
