THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Emma Guthrie (1881)
Emma Guthrie made her New York debut with Blanche Roosevelt's Opera Company, appearing as Jenny in an unsuccessful production of Alfred Cellier's The Sultan of Mocha (Union Square Theatre, September 1880). She was shortly engaged to tour with D'Oyly Carte and E. E. Rice's Second American Billee Taylor Company as Susan in the Stephen & Solomon opera (March-May 1881).
She later appeared in New York in a non-D'Oyly Carte production of Patience as the Lady Angela (Bijou Opera House, June-July 1882), among other works that year.
