THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Francesca Guthrie (1881)
Francesca Guthrie made her New York debut with the Mahn Opera Company, appearing in Boccaccio (Grand Opera House, October 1880). She then toured with D'Oyly Carte and E. E. Rice's Second American Billee Taylor Company as Phoebe Fairleigh (March-May 1881). It was her only engagement with the D'Oyly Carte organization.
She later appeared on tour in the title role in a non-D'Oyly Carte production of Patience with Rice's Opera Company (December 1881). She appeared rarely in New York thereafter, primarily on the concert stage through 1885.
