Evan John was a tenor member of the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company chorus from December 1923 to March 1925.

There is no evidence to suggest that he is the same person as the actor, dramatic author, and producer of the same name (1901-1953), and who reportedly made his stage debut in Liverpool in 1927.On the contrary, D'Oyly Carte records indicate that the Savoyard Evan John was age 30 when he auditioned in 1923.
