R. Hugh (Bob) Jones (1923-44)

Robert Hugh Jones spent over twenty years in the D'Oyly Carte chorus.He joined the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company in January 1923 and sang in the chorus until July 1943.His only named parts were First Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard and Francesco in The Gondoliers, and these he played only during the 1929-30 season.
In September 1941 Jones took on the additional duties of assistant stage manager, and in February 1944, at the end of his performing career, he was promoted to D'Oyly Carte's business manager, a position he held until his sudden death in January 1950.
