THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Grace Langley (1882, 1890)

Grace Langley had two engagements as a chorister with the D'Oyly Carte organization in America. She was in the chorus with Bucalossi's Les Manteaux Noirs when it was staged by Carte at New York's Standard Theatre, September-October 1882.

She later appeared in Carte's New York production of The Gondoliers at Palmer's Theatre (February-April 1890), and perhaps the earlier disappointment at the Park (January 1890). For a time in March she took the small role of Vittoria, while Cora Tinnie was filling in for Mary Duggan as Tessa.

Her only known subsequent appearance on the New York Stage came in March 1892, when she assisted in a production called Our Grab Bag at the Park Theatre.
