[Born Alnwick, Northumberland 1852, died Huddlesfield 23 Feb 1892]

Tenor Arthur Leonard, real name Leonard Arthur Rooke, toured with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "B" from at least June 1889 until February 1892, appearing in the small role of Leonard Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard from December 1890. Company "B" was playing The Nautch Girl in Huddersfield on February 23, 1892, when Leonard took his own life by slicing his throat in his lodgings.
