Michael Lessiter

Michael Lessiter (1979-83)

Baritone Michael Lessiter was known as Michael Freeman when he joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in October 1979. During his first season with the Company he filled in on occasion in the small part of Annibale in The Gondoliers.

Lessiter remained with the Company until its final performance, on February 27, 1982. During its last abbreviated season (September 1981-February 1982) he appeared regularly as Bob Becket in H.M.S. Pinafore, and deputized from time to time for Michael Buchan as Old Adam Goodheart in Ruddigore.

He later appeared in the chorus at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
