Alfred James Maple appeared on tour with the touring Comedy Opera Compnay Limited (later Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "Second 'Pinafore' Company") between April 1879 and at least February 1880, filling in on occasion for C. M. Blythe as Bob Beckett in the nautical opera. He was on tour with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's Company "E" playing The Pirates of Penzance in April 1881.
