Bass-baritone Mark Nelson joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in January 1969. In September of that year he assumed the small part of the Associate in Trial by Jury. He served with the Company until August 1972, also filling in on occasion as Giorgio in The Gondoliers (1970-72) and Go-To in The Mikado (1971-72).

Nelson later performed with Welsh National Opera and in 1988 sang in Incoronazione di Poppea in Sydney. He was married for a time to D'Oyly Carte chorister Lynn Williamson.
