John O'Rorke was musical director with D'Oyly Carte's "Second London" Company playing H.M.S. Pinafore on tour in England and Ireland from November 10 to December 13, 1879.

At the time of his death in 1899, it was reported that he had been connected with the old Royalty and Gaiety Theatres, Dublin.
