THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
G. M. Palmer (1880)
From February to June 1880 G. M. Palmer toured the U.S. and Canada as the Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance with D'Oyly Carte's Fourth American Pirates Company. Palmer was also part of D'Oyly Carte's fifth American Pirates Company that toured September 1880 and February 1881, as chorister and understudy. During Christmas week 1880 in Louisville, Kentucky, he filled in for John E. Nash as Samuel while Nash substituted for Signor Brocolini as the Pirate King.
Palmer later appeared in New York with the Wilbur Opera Company as Sergeant Parafonte in Aubran's The Mascotte (Bijou Opera House, May-August 1881, and Fifth Avenue Theatre, September 1881).
