THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

(Mr.) Philips (1889-92)

A Mr. Philips was in the D'Oyly Carte chorus at the Savoy for the original productions of The Gondoliers (December 1889-June 1891) and The Nautch Girl (June 1891-January 1892). He may have been C. L. Philips, a bass singer who toured with the D'Oyly Carte Repertoire Opera Company a decade later, taking the small part of Guron in Princess Ida in the fall of 1902.
