Glynis Prendergast (1975-77)
Glynis Prendergast joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in September 1975, initially taking the small part of Celia in Iolanthe and understudying larger soprano roles. As Trial by Jury (December 1975), Patience (January 1976), and The Gondoliers (February 1976) joined the repertoire she added the Plaintiff, the Lady Ella, and Fiametta to her regular duties. She later played Chloe when Princess Ida was given a brief revival between February and April 1977. Miss Prendergast also filled in on occasion for principal sopranos Julia Goss and Barbara Lilley as Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore (1976-77), Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (1975-77), Yum-Yum in The Mikado (1975-77), Rose Maybud in Ruddigore (1975-76), and Elsie Maynard in The Yeomen of the Guard (1976-77).
Glynis Prendergast may be heard as Olga on the Company's 1976 recording of The Grand Duke and as Fiametta on D'Oyly Carte's 1977 Gondoliers. She left the Company in July 1977.
