Louis Presano was born Luigi Tacagni. He was a chorister in May and June 1883 with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's No. 1 "Patience" Company.
He was one of eight siblings who were involved with the D'Oyly Carte organization. His brother Paul toured as a chorister in Princess Ida in 1885 and Ruddigore in 1887; his sister Rita toured in Claude Duval and Patience in 1882; and his sister Maria was a chorister with Carte's "D" Company in 1890. The other four (Rocco, Lozenzo, Anthony, and Benedict) appeared at the Opera Comique or on tour in 1880-81 with the Children's H.M.S. Pinafore Company.
